“Things like light, temperature, smell, sound, and sometimes taste, all work together to create ambience.”
I couldn’t see these words in the challenge without immediately thinking of a night street market. Markets are a collision of sounds, smells, tastes, and light that create an atmosphere and no where is that more typified than the street market in the Muslim Quarter of Xi’an. The narrow, winding alleys are chock-full of customers and vendors intermingling. The smells wafting through the street lead you from stall to stall to see what food creates that enticing aroma. The young and old have a flair for the dramatic as they create delicacies that you’ll never be able to find again. Oh sure, you’ll find the same food, but it will be lacking something that makes it, not quite right.
