I see this old oak tree every time I walk out of my parents’ front door. Like most live oaks in our neck of the woods it’s covered in these incredible little plants, with a very apt name, resurrection ferns. When the weather is dry, which it has been in Florida recently, the leaves dry up and turn brown making it look like the plant is dead. However, with just a little rain the leaves unfurl and come back to life. These pictures were taken about 20 hours apart and the only difference is a little morning shower resurrected these ferns!
